Situated in Nikko, 1 km from Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Shinkyo Inn features accommodation with a terrace, free private parking and a bar. Amazing and cozy place, with an outdoor terrace next to the river. Close to the popular shrines. Restaurant-quality food. One of the owners is an English native speaker. Rooms were clean and spacious, with a superb bathroom (with bath!) There are only 2 rooms, so book well in advance! The couple that runs the place went out of their way to help us out and made us feel right at home. Thanks so much for having us!

Incredible experience from start to finish. I only stayed one night, but I felt immediately at home and could not have been happier. The private, in-room onsen was the highlight of the room without question. Such a wonderful way to unwind and I spent hours in there. They keep the onsen very hot, hotter than most I've been to, but it's easy to add cold water to cool it down and if you go too far, a call to the front desk will have hot water piping back in. I enjoyed soaking while watching the snow fall through the open window - and was very comfortable! The room was extremely spacious with sliding partitions for each area, so if traveling with a partner or family, it would be easy to create privacy when needed. In-room amenities were great. Nice lotions, soaps, etc. Lighting in the room was very nice - I believe about 6 different settings you can choose from to create the mood you're looking for. The meals were absolutely top notch and unforgettable, both the dinner and breakfast. I can't say enough good things but the food surpassed all my expectations. Simply lovely. Checking in and out was very smooth and simple. It was easy to catch a taxi from directly outside Tobu Nikko station and when it was time to leave, the staff called a taxi for me.

Super clean, close to the station and a good supermarket, staff speak good English and are very kind and efficient, breakfast. Great shower (plenty of hot water), comfortable bed and an amazing view of the mountains.
