Very welcoming and friendly host. Location is also excellent, the hiking routes start right in front of the hotel.
Haus Stehlings

Haus Stehlings features views of the Old Town of Monschau. The guest house provides guests with free WiFi and is located a 1 hour drive from Cologne. Spacious apartment on the top floor of a very old building in the heart of historic Monschau (spoiler: no elevator, so you have to carry your luggage up some very uneven old staircase - living in history has its downsides for some, not for us). Good explanation of check-in procedure, everything in this town is only a few footsteps away. Another spoiler: you have to park in a parking garage about 250 m away from the property, but back then they did not build for cars in the heart of a city. Monschau itself is as beautiful as shown on the pictures - well preserved buildings, but modern inside. No kitchen, as that might cause problems with fire safety, but a fridge, water cooker and coffee maker. And "Printen" (a local and very good specialty) as a nice welcome on the beds.

This hotel in the Eifel National Park overlooks Lake Rursee. It offers wonderful lake views, chargeable use of sauna area and free Wi-Fi. Heimbach is a 5-minute drive away. Great location right on the lake. Room was huge and immaculate with a big balcony. Staff were very helpful and dinner on the terrace was excellent. Overall a great find and we will be back.

The room had very comfortable beds, it was very clean and quiet, and it had an amazing view on the lake. The staff was friendly even though they only spoke German we could communicate perfectly, the breakfast was indeed suberb, lots of fresh products, and they made us scrambled eggs on the spot. All the facilities are new, the bathroom was renovated and it had very hot water, all good. Lovely hotel, would visit again for sure.

Offering a terrace and views of the garden, Kragemann Hotel & Vinothek is set in Simmerath, 9 km from Eifel National Park. Guests can enjoy the on-site bar. New and well maintained room. Very clean. Good breakfast. Valuable for the trip with friends. I made a mistake in the reservation and counted 1 person less. The hotel service is very nice and add one person for free. The hotel bar is very nice. Lots of good wines.
