Helpful, friendly staff. Room as quaint and comfortable. The restaurant is outstanding. You cannot beat the location, just a very short walk to the Minster cathedral. Overall, a wonderful experience. Would definitely go there again.

Due to the nature of the premises, although we do try our absoloute best to maintain our guests comfort, a level of noise is to be expected due to the Guest Accommodation being located above a popular Public Bar and situated on a main road.We do endeavour to keep this reasonable and limit opening hours etc but the historic character of the Inn does mean it is not completely sound proof. We do politely ask guests to be mindful of this before booking with us.

The breakfast service was fantastic - full English - and the owner was so nice and chatted with us about our next destination. Truly a fantastic place to stay.

Staying here is like going back in time! The rooms are clean and the decor and furniture straight out of the 1700s!! The food is exceptional with a lovely cozy atmosphere in the restaurant. The room was spacious and clean with USB charging points in the wall which was handy. Steve, the host was amazing and super welcoming and helpful. The parking facilities are ideal and secure. Top guest house and spectacular value for money. Likely to return next time we're in York.

There are good bus connections with stops close by should anyone not fancy the 15 minutes walk. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed was very comfortable too. 🙂

It's simple, elegant, and really leans into its history, leaving me grinning at every reference to the Gunpowder Plot decorating the Inn. It's one of the best places I've ever stayed.
