Big city and nice people, a lot of attractions to see nearby. I rent a car with driver to Pha Taem National Park, to see the ancient rock paintings and well as mushroom shaped rocks. It costs me 2400B for a day. However, if you can speak Thai, it would be much more convenient. I am Chinese, can speak English but not Thai. You can seldom find a local who can speak English, not to say Chinese. Most restaurant menus are only in Thai, so try to find those with pictures. A translate app really helps. Ubon is a quite pleasant city for walking.
Ubon is a quite pleasant city for walking. Almost all of the main attractions are on the small area. Vegetarian restaurant Boon Niyon Uthayan on Thanon Srinarong. Wat Thung Si Meuang is worth to visit.

There are numerous Buddhist temples, including Wat Nong Pha Pong where housed the ashes of the late revered abbot Ajahn Chah who officially spread Thai Buddhism to the West.

Ubon Ratchathani was a nice place to travel. It has lots of beautiful mountains and if you are a hiking lover, you will love this place. It got beautiful water fall and you can swim over there. The nature was beautiful and it was so relaxing staying in ubon. The people there were friendly but they don’t speak very good English. The food over there was so delicious, you must need to try the BBQ and boat noodles. The LEK fresh milk shop was recommended to go. There were so many things you can try in ubon, I am Sure you will like this place. In addition, there was a central plaza which you can shop and watch movies there. A lot of big c, lotus and 7-11. A great cultural city with many attractions nearby. Best value if you have a car and drive to hunt attractions using google map. Very few tourists come here. A lot of nice Thai food. A visit to see Candle Festival mid July is highly recommended,

I had a huge king size bed (which I personally found very comfortable), a little balcony, a mini fridge, AC, hot and cold water. In the morning, you have complementary tea/coffee with bread, jam and patongo (Chinese doughnut). Bus 15 stops nearby if you need to go to the airport or bus station (20 THB). It’s located 10 minutes walking from the morning market and nigh market, which is very convenient for food options. WiFi works well.RébeccaFrance
