We received a code and could get into the room any time. Kitchen was well equipped. Room was big and quiet. We were lucky to see the aurora in this city, but we needed to drive shortly outside of the city.

Beautiful views of the sea, especially sunrise. Great mountain views. It was uncharacteristically cold and windy so no hiking but trails exist. Easy access to the national park with black beaches, lighthouses, lava tubes and volcano views. Nothing open in winter, you'll have to drive to Arnarstapi (5 minutes) or 30 min around the peninsula for any food or fuel.NeilUnited States - 10Scored 10

Great location to explore the peninsula and lots of walks from Hellnar along the coast. Eating options are quite limited but the food at our hotel was excellent so we were happy to eat there each night.

We had 2 rooms, our Room was not large, but spacious enough for a couple and our luggage. Very clean, Comfortable, a small window could be opened to allow air flow and cooling during sleep. Dinner was FABULOUS. Our party of 5 all selected different entrees and they were all delicious. Staff were kind and gracious, breakfast was also quite good. No complaints!~ThomasUnited States

It's also walking distance to the "hotel" in Hellnar, and they have a very good restaurant. Hellnar was a perfect base for us to do some day trips around the peninsula. It's also close to some of the popular attractions.
