Rock Hotel, hotel in Gibraltar

This magnificent landmark hotel is located on the Rock of Gibraltar, and has stunning views.

It looks like the hotel was remodeled as everything was fresh and up to date. The rooms had power by both sides of the bed and the air conditioning worked perfectly with great controls. The bathroom was excellent with a great shower and hot water as one would expect. I’m adding these details because of other reviews that point these items as issues. The room was perfectly quiet with the balcony door closed. I do recommend a balcony room as it has a great view of the town / harbor and park below. The staff were exceptionally great and totally helpful with everything from recommendations to calling a taxi. We were greeted warmly and all questions answered almost before having to ask. We arrived early and our luggage was stored while we walked to Main Street, which is a nice and interesting walk via the park or road. When we returned from the walk and collected the room key our luggage was already in our room, excellent work and job well done. The staff that checked the luggage somehow knew what our room would be and checked with us that our luggage was fine and everything was ok. The hotel is top notch and far more than expected from some of the older reviews. I can’t speak for all the rooms but ours was great, wonderful, and made our visit to The Rock Hotel relaxing and worth every penny.

A place of great adventure for active nature lovers.

A place of great adventure for active nature lovers. The top of the rock nature reserve is a must visit. Although everything is duty free, the price tickers are generally higher than in Canada. I drove a rental car from Spain to Gibraltar and people on the road from the Spanish side were generally kinder and accommodating.

Two days. One hiring e-bikes, £49/day, cycling round the peninsula and up into the nature reserve where all the military tunnels etc are. £19 ticket to enter but well worth it. Day 2 shopping and beach. Nice restaurants on the Marina.

If going to Gibraltar, do not worry about currency or language as 99% of the places accept £ sterling even taxis and everyone speaks English. Getting about on the buses is very easy but they only take cash no cards

There are numerous activities to enjoy in Gibraltar.

There are numerous activities to enjoy in Gibraltar. It is steeped in history spanning over 300 years with a significant military presence over the last 100 years. Main Street has a Miriad of shops many of which are duty free with a specialisation in Jewellery, spirits and tobacco and many electronic shops which are extremely reasonably priced. Some great beaches, public transport system and fantastic sight to be seen and a most impressive environmental protection area on upper rock with some fantastic sights across the Gibraltar straights to Morocco, Spain and the Mediterranean.

As pensioners some of the steepness which we obviously expected was sometimes difficult but always a good bus/taxi service. Really pleased we visited and already planning to return near Christmas. Excellent shops and bars something for everyone together with very friendly residents/workers. The Rock Hotel was excellent with a view over the harbour, good food and top class service. Overall a super experience.

Where to start.... Location was perfect, right in the heart of the town. The room has a fabulous kitchinette, great for warm croissants or a nice cuppa. The bathroom is lovely and clean, plenty of towels. The room has lots of space and a decent sized TV. Has 2 fans too which were appreciated. So onto the host. She was simply 5 star. Gave us lots of tips, restaurants and bars and places to go. That really put the cherry on the cake. If your looking for a great value place to stay in the heart of Gib well congratulations you have found it!

Nice hotel, good location with fantastic sea views. Generally very nice place, however, I would say that some of the building does require some refurbishment which I believe is going to happen very soon. Access to the largest beach in Gibraltar was just down a set of stairs from the hotel. Bus stop right outside the entrance with a half hourly service into town, however, last bus at 21:00 so taxi back if you want a late one.

Easy access to the airport, the main town and eastern side of Gibraltar - perfect for exploring the whole country. We were on the 19th floor with excellent views of the runway and into Spain. Shower was excellent and bed was comfy. Staff were available by Whatsapp to answer questions and were friendly whenever we met them in person. Views of the morning sunrise are incredible from the balcony of the apartment we had.

We were due to arrive quite early and the property owners agreed ahead of schedule for us to be able to drop our suitcases off at 11.30. However when we arrived at that time. They had been able to get the room ready already so we were able to check in well ahead of schedule meaning we had the day to enjoy Gibraltar without worrying about luggage. The apartment was clean and had everything we could need.

The Experience of staying on a boat with lovely hosts. Its close to the border crossing and minutes from restaurants and town, good value compared to most Gibraltar accommodation. Just remember its a boat not a hotel room as it appears some of the negative comments were expecting, the toilets and showers are a few minutes walk away but are new. Great experience and would do it again.

This was a hassle s I am not from Gibraltar. It was supposed to be a thirty minute walk but the streets are not properly labeled. It took me like two hours to find the place and I still was lost going back.
