The staff, especially Nigel, went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and that I made it to the wedding I was attending, as well as the airport the following morning, on time. I cannot speak highly enough of the service and accommodations.

The location felt remote and was very beautiful. Although, only a few minutes drive to the M6 making it really accessible too. We stayed in the bungalow which was very spacious (2 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, lounge/diner and private garden). We all had an incredible night's sleep because it was so quiet.

Good sized, clean room. Really good breakfast and lunch. The bar was open until 10pm. Staff were very friendly and it was a central location. And good restaurants within a couple minutes walk.

The breakfast was amazing, especially as I am gluten free. Great quality and lots of variation.

We received a really lovely welcome. Our stay was short but we had everything we needed and even had some very helpful tips on where to go for a run! Coffee and toast in the morning with a selection of jam and marmalade was great. We stopped the night on our way further north and enjoyed our stay so much we booked to stay on our return journey as well!

A beautiful spacious house overlooking an enclosed wildlife garden with plenty of birds and hedgehogs visiting.
The house has an abundance of character in every room with original features and art work.
Jo, our host, was warm and very welcoming and gave us some great suggestions of lovely places to visit in the local area.
Our room was large and the bed was really comfortable with everything we needed for our stay.
We were served a hearty and tasty breakfast of local produce whilst overlooking the enclosed garden.

Lovely Hotel, 400 years old and lots of character, very friendly, regular bus service to Lockerbie, Annan, Gretna and Carlisle. We had a great adventure. Hotel was very friendly and we loved our stay. The food was good pub grub and the hotel was lovely as was the room. We had a beautiful on suite. A big comfy bed. Absolutely no complaints at all and we shall go back. Thank you Mary and our lovely barmaid Karen. Nothing was too much trouble.

We were welcomed as soon as we arrived by Ste who was more than helpful during our stay. The landlady made a point of coming to sit near us during the evening and we had a nice conversation not only with her but a local gentleman called Ben who we had a few drinks with. The barmaid was really good and although the place was busy she didn't drop a stitch. I wouldn't hesitate to stay again on the next trip to Scotland.

This hotel was a real home from home.
This hotel was a real home from home.
Each room was full of fascinating historical artefacts and the owner was keen to tell us about the history of the building.
There are open fires and cosy sitting rooms to enjoy.
The welcome was very warm.
We liked the location and the proximity to the hotel where we had dinner on the first night. We liked the size of all the rooms especially the bedrooms. The bedding and towels were spotless as were all the dishes in the kitchen.
The staff were warm, friendly and helpful.
The room very clean comfortable and well equipped.
The home-made food was delicious, good value and plentiful.
The old house where the hotel is based is grand and full of character.
Really should not mention how extremely nice this hotel is, as then if everyone knows, it will make booking a night or two much more difficult or impossible. Cannot say too often a lovely location and a very special hotel.
Great hotel for my stopover. Tastefully decorated with welcoming staff. Had an excellent evening meal in the bar, with lovely views out to the hills. Single room was lovely, with spotless ensuite shower room.
The hotel far exceeded our expectations..it is a beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings ...the staff were lovely and the food was excellent..would definitely recommend..
Spent 1 night and the room was really clean with all details in place. Bit of fresh milk, different types of coffee, warm and same level of a hotel, but smaller.
This hotel was a great stay. Welcomed at the door, check in was quick, room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was perfect. Parking was good. Thank you.
